Amber Ferguson, Director of Aussie Solar recently had the opportunity to meet with Premier Barry O'Farrell to discuss the future of the solar power industry. At present there is no guarantee that customers who sign up for solar power will roll over to the new policy once it is implemented. As a result, the solar industry remains in limbo, so Ms Ferguson proposed to the Premier that the NSW Government implement the 'grandfathering' rule ensuring any new customers will roll over to the new policy.
"The Premier was very receptive to this suggestion and asked Chris Hartcher, Minister for Resources and Energy to contact me to discuss it further," stated Ms Ferguson.
"Chris Hartcher's office has since contacted me for additional details and prepared a written submission to the Premier. We believe it is a good recommendation."
"The NSW Government has been thorough in their approach and we are grateful that we will see some real stability entering into the industry. The safety concerns are being addressed and identifying those electricians who are not installing to manufacturers specifications. Once the NSW Government make their announcement about the 'grandfathering rule' householders can be confident about installing solar power systems and making real savings on their electricity bills."
