Related Renewable Energy Products

There are many types of renewable energy products on the market. Many customers want to invest in renewable energy products but may find it confusing to know just what it is they need. Below are a few brief explanations on the various products available.

Solar power- electricity generated from the sun. This is to power your household items ie: kitchen appliances, television etc.

Grid connected solar power- Solar panels on your roof, generating electricity that is then fed into the electricity grid to offset your electricity bill.

Stand alone or remote solar power- this means your house is not connected to the electricity grid. Solar panels are on the roof producing electricity, the electricity produced is fed into storage batteries to provide the home with power day and night.

Solar pumps- electricity from the solar panel is used to pump water from a dam, or bore to move the water to a water storage tank , usually for farms for watering livestock.

Solar hot water- Water passes through panels designed to heat water from the sun, for the heated water to be stored in your household hot water storage tank. A pump continuously pumps the water through the solar water heating panel on the roof during daylight to maintain the temperature of the water.  At night if the temperature of the water in the storage tank drops too low it is then boosted by either gas or electricity.

Wind turbines- electricity generated from the wind. This is then used to power homes or communities and very similar to grid connected solar power is fed into the grid. Before purchasing a wind turbine for your home please be sure to check with your local council if it is permitted.
