Solar System Audits

Important Announcement

Audits are being carried out on all Solar Power Systems installed from 2008.

As instructed by our Accreditation Board the Clean Energy Council, all solar installation companies are obliged to inspect solar power systems installed from 2008 onwards as a result of recent changes to the Australian Electrical Standards. www.solaraccreditation.com.au/acccec/home.html

The audit will ensure Australian Standards are met in regards to:

  • Solar panel security and design of array
  • Cabling from the roof to the array and labeling of the cables
  • DC breaker polarity
  • Inverter and switchboards wiring

Aussie Solar Installations will be carrying out this audit over the coming months and you will receive a booking date from us shortly. The audit will take up to half an hour to complete. Whilst it is not a requirement that you are present at the time of the audit, we do require your permission to conduct the audit and we would prefer that someone is home as we may need to enter the roof space. If this is not possible please inform us via email or phone and let us know how you would prefer your audit to be completed.
Please note you do have the right to refuse the audit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are these audits being conducted?

The CEC (Clean Energy Council) have requested audits to be done by the company who had installed the system to ensure installation is compliant with manufacturers’ specifications.

How long will it take?

Approximately 15 minutes to half an hour.

How will I know when I will be audited?

We will send you an audit date by email/post.

What if the date doesn’t suit me?

Call/email us and we will make other arrangements.

I can’t be home, but my friend/neighbor can be there is that ok?

Absolutely, it is preferable that someone is there so we can access the inverter if it is located in your garage and also have access to your roof cavity to check the cabling.

Will you let me know what time you’re coming?

Unfortunately we can’t, there are just so many installations that we need to audit that it is impossible to know what time the installers will arrive.

Does it cost anything?

No there is no cost to you.

I wasn’t home when you came, what now?

We will still complete what we can and you will find the results in your letter box/post. We will return if we need to.

How will I know if there is something wrong with my system?

It will be documented and you will receive a copy of the notice from us, we will fix any small issues that have been found on the day, however if there are large issues that need attention it will be turned into a service job and information sent to our head office to rebook to amend.

What if I was installed by one of your sub-contractors?

We will be auditing their installations too.

What If I want an independent company to audit my solar system? </h4>
You can visit the CEC website and find a list of independent installers to do the audit, however you may be charged a fee.

What time frame do these audits need to be completed by? </h4>
The CEC requested we give them information by the 25.2.2011, however due to the volume of audits we need to complete we are sending them information frequently on the installations we have completed.
